FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Just about any woman. We train women who are trying to conceive, pregnant, new Moms, and women who are 10+ years postpartum. TFB is a space to reconnect with you. Whatever stage of motherhood you are in, you’ll learn how to properly connect with your deep core, gain total-body strength and have more effective workouts and results with our method.
If you enjoyed the gym or lifting weights pre-pregnancy, then this studio is for you. Even if you don’t workout regularly, there’s something for you here. We like to say TFB Studio is focused on functional strength training (think squats, deadlifts, and rows to name a few) paired with pelvic floor health because let’s be honest, long term function and performance are the goals.  Depending on your workout you could use a mix of dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and more. Whether pregnant or postpartum, we empower women to feel confident in their bodies and movement.
Motherhood requires strength, physically and mentally, so train for it. Through each workout, you’ll gain total-body strength, improve alignment and posture, and find yourself feeling stronger when schlepping around your baby and that 10lb diaper bag on your back. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned athlete, we’ll cater the workout (even group classes) to your level of comfort.
As long as your doctor has given you the thumbs up to exercise, then yes. As you progress, your exercises should become purposeful and modify when necessary, but working out and maintaining strength is beneficial for many reasons. You’ll reduce pregnancy discomforts like low back pain, boost your overall energy and mood, improve postpartum recovery, reduce the risk of pregnancy complications like gestational diabetes, and it prepares you for the demands of motherhood. In our experience, we’ve heard from countless prenatal clients that they felt stronger and more prepared (physically and mentally) during labor and delivery.

To workout in the studio, we recommend having your doctor’s clearance which typically happens around 4-6 weeks postpartum and c-section Mamas around 6-8 weeks. We do encourage those in the early stages of their postpartum recovery to join the Body After Baby series to set their foundation and maximize their return to fitness in a slower paced class.
Prior to the infamous “6-week clearance” we encourage you to focus on diaphragmatic breathing, connecting with your deep core, and gentle stretches to aid in mobility. Need a video with more guidance? Download Nike’s free fitness app Nike Training Club (NTC), where Meghan herself guides you through an incredible 0-6 weeks Postpartum Series.

Well, for one, we focus only on women. While any trainer can become certified in pre + postnatal fitness, our niche and continuing education focuses on perinatal health and wellness. We dive deep into diastasis recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, postural and pelvic alignment, and more. Our workouts center around proper breathing techniques and connecting with the pelvic floor and deep core. We educate women on how to move mindfully not just in their workouts, but throughout motherhood and teach effective training to promote a healthy, strong pregnancy and a faster postpartum recovery. Not to mention, TFB owner Meghan Rosenfeld created Nike’s first Pre + Postnatal fitness program “(M)ove Like a Mother.” So yea, I’d say we are experts in this space.
Of course! We work with women in whatever season of life they are in; before babies, the months/years in between kiddos, and those well past giving birth into seniors. You’ll be set up for a successful pregnancy (should you decide you want that) or be smarter with your workouts to meet the demands of motherhood and life in general. Consider private training or joining a group class. We guarantee you’ll have a great workout. Just view our testimonials.
Yes you can, but we highly recommend seeing a Pelvic Floor Therapist first. Based on their assessment we can cater the workouts to your needs. Each and every pregnancy and postpartum journey are unique and if you are experiencing any discomforts, you’ll benefit from a tailored approach to fitness. We can work together to determine the best exercises for you so you can continue to enjoy exercise and the activities you love.
This is a baby-friendly studio! Just bring a book, toy or something to keep them happy while you get in your workout. And don’t worry if your baby is fussy or clingy one day. Exercises can be modified and we’re happy to jump in and hold your little one so you can workout.
